"Common Purpose is partnering with Fuse Washington to conduct a research experiment for voter registration efforts across Washington. Our goal is to test the efficacy of different communication methods for encouraging voter registration. We will contact unregistered voters throughout Washington who identify as under 50 people of color. Each prospective voter is grouped in one of four research conditions: receiving a phone call, receiving a text message, receiving a letter, or receiving all three. The experiment can run through the Washington primary in August, but if completed before August we’ll work to identify new voter registration techniques and opportunities"
I am honored and excited to be a lead on this project! My primary role will be supervising the letter-writing portion. I am excited to do some work in my home state.
May 15, 2020: Intro Meeting
Yesterday, May 15th, Daniel, Addy, Mina, Mickey and I had a brief intro meeting. I walked the interns through the basics using PA letter-writing as an example. Afterwards I promised to make a detailed "how to" document - please see it below!
June 1, 2020: Daniel check in
Last Saturday (May 30) I texted Daniel because I felt weird with my position in our WA Fieldwork. After the introduction and making the "how to" for letter-writing my involvement ended. We set up a check in today and Daniel handed the operations over to me. My new responsibilities are monitoring the master spread sheet that. This includes volunteers who sign up and if we have sent them everything they need. For example those who sign up for letter-writing need their batch of addresses. The new interns are in charge of sending the letter-writing batches. Daniel has been managing the input of numbers for Hustle and CallFire which we use for texting and phone calling respectively. I am now in charge of this. I am thankful for the opportunity to take on more responsibility.
